Frozen lakes, snowy forests and starry nights – explore Sweden in winter with our fully winter-ready Grenadier.
Winter in Sweden
Sweden’s quiet season
Frozen lakes, snow-heavy forests, low golden light and nights full of stars. In winter, Dalarna is silent and almost empty – and you have it to yourself.
Our Grenadier is fully prepared for the cold: you drive safely on snow and ice, sleep warm in the rooftop tent and sit by the fire under a clear sky. Same daily price as in summer.

Arrive the night before
Winter days are short. Sleep in our forest cabin next to the base, light the wood stove, and pick up the Grenadier in the morning – rested and with the whole day ahead of you.

Good to know
Is it really warm enough in the rooftop tent?
Yes. The diesel heater warms the tent, the heated blankets warm the bed, and the winter sleeping bags are made for real cold. Many guests say they slept better than at home.
Do I need winter driving experience?
No. The Grenadier has Nordic-certified studded winter tyres and permanent four-wheel drive. Drive slowly and keep your distance – we explain everything at handover.
How long is it light in winter?
Around midwinter, Dalarna has roughly six hours of daylight. From February the days get longer quickly. Plan shorter driving days and enjoy the long evenings by the fire.
Can I see the northern lights?
On clear nights with strong solar activity, yes – even here in Dalarna. The further north you drive, the better your chances.
Which cars can I rent in winter?
Our winter car is the Ineos Grenadier with studded tyres. The Land Rover Discovery is also available in winter with Nordic winter tyres – just ask us. The Jeep stays in the garage until spring.
Ready for the quiet season?
Pick your winter dates and check if the Grenadier is free – or ask us anything about travelling in the cold.
