When you book, you pay a €300 down payment. The rest is due by bank transfer 14 days before your trip starts.

The forest cabin on its own needs no down payment – €69 a night by bank transfer.

Yes. A refundable security deposit of €2,000 (€1,000 with the VIP package) is paid by bank transfer before handover – we don’t take cash or credit cards. It is also the most you pay for damage to the car. After your trip we check the car and usually transfer the security deposit back within one week.

Most guests fly into Stockholm Arlanda (ARN). From there, take the train to Borlänge (about 2.5 hours), then the direct bus to Dala-Järna (about 1 hour 15 minutes). Omio is handy for schedules and tickets.

With VIP you only need the train to Borlänge – we pick you up there. Arriving late? Sleep in our forest cabin and start in the morning.

Yes. Supermarkets and fuel stations in Sweden are open seven days a week, Sundays included. You can shop on the way to us or right after pick-up.

• Standard: you pay at most €2,000 per incident (your security deposit). Glass damage costs at most €300. A damaged tyre is replaced with a new one at your cost – we never repair tyres, for safety.
• VIP: you pay at most €1,000 per incident. One tyre, one rim and one glass damage are covered.
• All our cars run on steel rims. If one gets bent, we beat it back into shape.

Only the vehicle itself is insured. Nothing fitted to or carried in the car is covered – the rooftop tent, awning and all camping gear included. Anything that is lost or damaged has to be paid for by the renter. But we repair instead of replacing: a broken zip costs you our working time, not a new tent.

Every rental includes 24/7 towing. If we can’t solve it by phone or on the spot, we come out with a trailer to collect you and the car – anywhere in Sweden.

Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. Other countries are possible on request. Mileage is unlimited.

Going to Norway? For trips to Norway we keep €50 of the security deposit as an advance for road tolls. When the toll invoice arrives (usually after a few months), we settle the exact amount: we refund any difference or charge the remainder.

Gravel roads and forest tracks are fine. Driving cross-country off established paths – through bogs or deep woods – is illegal under the Swedish right of public access (Allemansrätten) and carries heavy fines. Gross negligence, such as deep water crossings, voids the insurance.

No. At handover we walk you through the car, the 4×4 system and the camping gear. Drive responsibly and adjust your speed to the road, especially on gravel.

Yes – an offline navigation system preloaded with 20,000 km of our own off-road tracks and points of interest such as campsites, fuel stations and supermarkets. It works without mobile reception.

No – season-appropriate sleeping bags are in the car. For hygiene reasons we’d still love you to bring your own if you can.

Yes – we have child seats and booster seats. Just tell us your children’s ages when you book, and we’ll have the right seats fitted when you pick up the car.

A standard European category B licence or an international equivalent is enough. The cars are registered as normal passenger cars – no special permit or extra insurance needed.

Moose and reindeer often cross without warning. Drive slowly, especially at dawn and dusk and on long forest roads.

The cars are registered for automatic toll payment. Swedish and Danish tolls are deducted from the deposit. For trips to Norway we keep €50 of the security deposit as an advance for road tolls. Mostly very good, but deep forests and the northern fjell have dead zones. The offline navigation keeps you on track while driving; download offline maps for hikes.

Full to full. If the tank isn’t full on return, you pay for the missing fuel plus €20.

No. Bring it back as dirty as your trip made it – just give the inside a rough sweep and take your rubbish with you. Cleaning is part of the Adventure Ready Fee.

Nothing else. Light brush marks from bushes and branches on narrow tracks can’t be avoided – we don’t charge for them. Deep scratches through the paint, for example from scraping along a thick branch or a rock, are damage. A dent we look at together: if we can beat it out, you pay a fair share, not a new paint job.

After you return, we check the whole car – top, bottom, inside and outside. Then we transfer the security deposit back to your account, usually within a week.

Tip: take a few photos of the car when you pick it up. Then it’s clear for both of us what was already there.
